For today, I chose a topic which we called in Portuguese "substantive comum de does gêneros". I don't have idea of how to say this in English. But I'll explain to you and then we'll see what happens, alright?

In Portuguese, unlike in English, we have masculine and feminine nouns such as:

a cadeira (the chair - feminine noun)

o livro (the book - masculine noun)

But, to your joy English-speakers, we have also some nouns that you can use either a or o. That is what we call "comum de dois gêneros", something like "common of both genres" (that sounds really bad! Can't help it)

O motorista – A motorista. (the driver)

Meu colega – Minha colega. (my colleague)
